About this stop

For Berliners, Unter den Linden is not just a promenade, but part of the city's lifestyle. The road that was originally built was initially just a bridle path and has been expanded over the years. Frederick the Great saw to it being expanded into a large promenade. His equestrian statue still adorns the east end of the street. Numerous magnificent buildings were erected along the street. These include the Prinzessinnenpalais, the Arsenal, the Kronprinzenpalais and the Opera House. After the end of World War II, reconstruction began. There were also many buildings in the style of the architecture of the 1960s. On our city tour we will introduce you to the history of the street Unter den Linden and its buildings.

Brandenburg Gate

If you visit Berlin and haven't seen the Brandenburg Gate, you really can't be helped. It is the city's most important landmark and the symbolic place for German unity. The Brandenburg Gate was built from 1788 to 179+1 according to the plans of Carl Gotthard Langhans, who is based on the Propylaea of the Acropolis. While the Brandenburg Gate is a symbol of unification today, it was a symbol of German division in GDR times. The Brandenburg Gate was expanded in 1793 with the Quadriga by Johann Gottfried Shadow.
